My Wiccan or Witch name is Dreamweaver. Hence the name of the blog. I had been using variations of this name long before I became Wiccan, and had been using Dream Works for things I created long before Steven Spielberg created his studio in 1994. I have writings from the 80's where I had written "A Dream Works project" or "A Dream Works Production" on them. I had thought when I was young that I would one day have a creative company named Dream Works (Darn you Spielberg for stealing my name!) My point is, it's a name that already had special meaning to me.
There are no set rules for making a Wiccan name per say, nor is it even necessary. Your more then welcome to use your given name. However there is power in a name you choose for yourself over a name you are given. And like any belief system, there is also power in being "reborn" into the belief, and taking on a new name after your rebirth. It can hold strong personal meaning. The fact the numerology worked out for it also helped give it more power and meaning for myself. Some say giving others your Wiccan name gives them power over you, but I don't personally believe that, so therefor it has no power over me (on the internet at least). However, I don't give it out to people who know me personally, unless I have great trust in them. Knowing someone personally, or having access to personal items (or hair for example) could give them power along with your name, as far as Craft work is concerned. So basically I won't be posting this blog on my Facebook or Google+ pages. I'm sure someone can find my non-Craft identity if they tried, but I'm not going to advertise it. I don't mind people knowing I'm Pagan, I don't hide it, but I only want those who I trust to have my name and personal access to me as well.... That's my belief.
So the numerology part. Here's how to figure it out if your interested. First figure out your birth number. Do this by adding all the digits of your birth date together. Example 12/19/1974 would be 1+2+1+9+1+9+7+4=34 since you need a single number you then add 3+4=7, so my number is 7. Then for the name you can use the below table.

So Dreamweaver is
4+9+5+1+4+5+5+1+4+5+9=52 and 5+2=7
So both my Birth Number and my name = 7. This is not required, but it's nice, and adds some kind of kismet. It's power is that your birth date never changes, it's something that will define you till your dying day and beyond. So having a name that equals your birth number will always have unchanging meaning, connection, and power. It happened I had to work a little to come up with Dreamweaver, I knew I wanted to use some variation on Dream or Dreamer, and this is what I found. I've been using it ever since.
As a interesting point on numerology, my Social Security Number is also 52, and then 5+2=7. So that also seems to tie me into the number 7. Your SSN is in a way another name, as far as the government is concerned. This also gives the name power to me, just all seems some kind of weird kismet.
Also on a side note, a Seer once told me my SSN had great significance for me. She was a crazy old lady who lived in our neighborhood when I was in my 20's, spent most of her time talking to ghost and dancing in her yard. In time they came and took her away, she saw a world so different then the one most of us see that she could no longer function normally in "our" world. But she had scary insight at times, scary how she could see into your heart and see truth... Seemed she could read your mind. She also had a almost impossible way of seeing into the future, but what she said didn't make any sense till it came to pass. Course most of what she said didn't make any sense. Then you were like "Oh, THAT was what the old lady was talking about." Told me I was once an Arch-Angel in another incarnation.... Crazy I know, but always stuck with me, I've often wonder if she was the crazy one, or we all are.
